The “Gambling on Love” one-on-one date two days later went to Shelby. CJ wondered if Big John put in a plug for the singing beauty queen, who, she had to admit, looked perfect on Nate’s arm.

If Shelby’s music career took off, would he go on the road with her? That wouldn’t fit with his business plans, but maybe he’d delay them. It was up to him to decide.

While the women sat crowded in the suite’s living room with a view of the bright lights of Vegas and cameras trained on them, the door opened. Heads swiveled, and a collective gasp echoed in the room as a crew member took hold of Shelby’s suitcases by the door and wordlessly departed.

“Oh my gosh,” Isabella exclaimed.

“I can’t believe he sent her home.” Hannah S.’s eyes misted.

“My money is on Nate seeing she wasn’t really here for him. So, it was bye, bye, bye,” Mikayla sang, waving.

“Maybe he found out she has a boyfriend back home,” Hannah K. said with a hint of a smirk.

“What are you talking about?” Hannah S.’s eyes narrowed.

“I heard Shelby mention her boyfriend back in Nashville to you.”

“Ex-boyfriend,” Hannah S. spat out.

“It didn’t sound like she totally ended things to me. If she’s not here one hundred percent for Nate, he deserves to know.”

“You told him she still has a boyfriend?” Sparks flew as a showdown between the two Hannahs ignited.

“I merely suggested he ask if she was over him.”

“You’re jealous because she’s had a boyfriend in the past five years,” Hannah S. threw out, rising to her feet.

Mikayla and Sophia wore matching smiles as they sat back and watched. Give them a bucket of popcorn, and it would be a viral internet GIF.

“Whatever Nate’s reasons, I’ll miss her launching into song, but I hope to hear her on the radio soon,” CJ said.

“Me too,” Imani chimed in, followed by Isabella and Diana, helping to diminish the tension.

CJ wouldn’t be surprised if Shelby landed a spot on Second-Chance Island—unless she did get back with her ex. On the spin-off, the men and women were pretty evenly matched, and the unattached individuals got sent home. That format brought out even more tears and backstabbing and added in partner changes for the viewers’ guilty pleasure. Shelby might find the right match there since the couples had more time together and better odds than two dozen people fighting for the same partner.
